Mod pack for classic Doom 1 & 2
Doom mod pack+ is a free game utility for PC made by an indie developer your.mod.buddy. It is a game mod made specifically for the classic first-person shooters, Doom 1 and Doom 2. It contains files that will let players change the characteristics of weapons in the game to their liking.
Tested using the impressive Gzdoom 3D-accelerated source port, Doom mod pack+ provides players with yet another way to tweak and customize the Doom games. The weapon changes will have a significant impact on how they play the game compared to the standard experience.
Massive power up
The Doom franchise helped popularize and define first-person shooters as they are today. In fact, it remains quite popular to this day that members of its dedicated community created a 3D-accelerated source port so it can be played on modern PCs via GZDoom. There's also a healthy collection of mods being made for them, and Doom mod pack+ is one of them.
This mod pack contains a number of .DEH and .BEX files that you can integrate into your base copy of the game. What they do is let you edit the damage values of any gun in the game to whatever you like. What that means is that a pistol can pack the punch of a shotgun, or a rocket launcher can one-shot like the BFG9000.
This mod will work with all guns, and it does skew the game balance by quite a bit, but that is to be expected given what it was made to do. More importantly and as was mentioned earlier, this was officially tested only compatible with Doom 1 and Doom 2. As such, it sadly won't work with Doom 3 even if you try.
BFG energy
Doom mod pack+ is a nice addition to the list of mods you can try out for the classic Doom games. While it doesn't add anything new gameplay-wise, it's still fun to mess around with weapon damage values for a specific gun you like. It's a shame there's no support for Doom 3, but aside from that, this is a must-try.
